The Shoot:
As a photographer I always look for inspiration for fun, creative, and unique photography. I love to look on Pinterest to get ideas and make them my own. Back in February, I was on Pinterest scrolling along and came across an editorial styled shoot by Marina Williams. This styled shoot caught my attention because the theme was 70’s vintage, with bright colors and crazy patterns. This particular styled shoot, had a team including a stylist, wardrobe, hair, makeup, and models. Taking on this project without a style team was a huge endeavor; however, I am really pleased with the results. Being excited to share all of our portraits with you is an understatement!
After falling in love with the concept, my mind began to run with ideas. My plan was to ask my daughter (Simone) and one of her besties (Manahil) to join me for a multi-cultural styled photoshoot in my studio. I asked them to look in their closet for items with bold and rich colors that represented their culture. Manahil sent me a few pictures of options from her closet. Simone was styled with an afrocentric printed skirt from a local boutique. I think we did a great job fusing together an Afrocentrist and Pakistani wardrobe. I am over joyed with how this styled photoshoot turned out.
